I love creating things that help others. It's what makes me feel like I'm making a difference. A few years ago, I started Wing Chun Magazine (initially Wing Chun Teahouse). A free publication for the Wing Chun community at large, it was the only magazine dedicated to Wing Chun at the time. Although the magazine only last a couple years, it was an honor to be able feature articles and interviews with prominent Wing Chun sifus. It was a great way to give back to the art that I love.
Later I founded International Wing Chun Day - a day honoring Wing Chun for all practitioners of all lineages to come together to raise awareness for Wing Chun. Held annually on the 3rd Saturday of March, schools and teachers hold events promoting their group while promoting Wing Chun as a whole. Going into its fifth year, it is embraced by hundreds of Wing Chun schools from all different lineages around the world.
Now I've founded Wing Chun Against Bullying - uniting Wing Chun practitioners against bullying of all shapes, sizes and ages. Jealousy and fear can make people do ugly things. The Wing Chun Against Bullying movement is a fight against fear, powered by goodness and perpetuated by forgiveness. Whether its a schoolyard bully or a keyboard warrior with a superiority complex, we are making a stand against those who belittle others. After all, belittling others makes you neither tough nor impressive. It makes you look stupid and rude.
Within just a couple short weeks since beginning the movement, its growth on Facebook is nothing short of astonishing. Currently, there are 9.1K supporters who have liked our Facebook page. (http://ift.tt/1wvLQWY)! See below. Other inspired sifus from the Wing Chun community have also stepped forward with their support. Now this is what its all about for me!
