In this video shot on the set of Blood and Bone, Micheal Jai White describes our Economy of Motion principle & our Non-Telegraphed Movement concept. You can't beat good Wing Chun principles... simple, direct & efficient!

Anyone can give up. Our mind wants to find ways to allow ourselves to give up. It’s the easiest thing in the world to say "I'm going to take a break" and give yourself an out. Whatever justification you choose, you have just given yourself permission to go backwards. You've basically told yourself that it’s okay to stop trying for now. Nearly everyone who says “I’m going to take a break” doesn't come back. Never underestimate the power of momentum. Make no mistake; it will break you like nothing else. It'll take the great right out of you. But if you find a way, when there seems like no other option but to quit, that's true strength. That's the makings of greatness!

“We all have inner demons to fight. We call these demons ‘fear’, and ‘hatred’, and ‘anger’. If you don’t conquer them, then a life of a hundred years is a tragedy. If you do, a life of a single day can be a triumph.” - Ip Man

Are you familiar with Mok Lik (Eye focus and forward intention)?
In applying Mok Lik, the focus should be between the opponent's eyes; the so-called third eye. By focusing on this point, the head is held upright promoting proper structure and awareness. With practice the practitioner can learn to view his opponent through his peripheral vision or "speed vision". Eventually even the slightest of movements can be sensed allowing for a response to the first signs of aggression.

We are all familiar with Ip Man, but have you heard of his Sifu, Chan Wah-Shun?
Leung Jan's student, Chan Wah-Shun, called "Moneychanger Wah", owned a coin changing stall near Leung's herbal medicine clinic in Foshan. In around 1858 at age 25, Chan began training under Leung Jan and later went on to become one of his most prized students, winning many challenge fights, earning the nickname Bull.
He was very strong with an exceptionally strong grip from carrying heavy loads of coins around town every day.

What sets The Dragon Institute apart from the rest?
Dragon Family Wing Chun does not over emphasize historical preservation, ancestor worship or dead patterns of movement. Our approach is always based on logical application rather than cultural traditions.
On the other hand, we also do not simply innovate for innovation’s sake. When we find limitations in our ability to apply, we don’t look to add techniques from other methods. Instead, we look at what we are doing improperly based on the principles of the art.
